Strange rumbling noises above Alkmaar Holland, thunder without a pause for more than twenty minutes?

After a heavy storm I heard a strange constant rumbling, I took my camera into the front garden and filmed the grey sky, it sounded like thunder, it must have been thunder only it didn't stop for more than twenty minutes, I only managed eight minutes of film as my battery was low but the rumbling and lightning just carried on and on, the rumbling stopped but came back constantly for the next hour or so. I can honestly say I have never witnessed anything like this before.

  1. We call them rumblers; here they are more common on the night of a storm -- think they are some type of aircraft that hide in the storms.

  4. I've heard the same thing in ND about 2 weeks ago. I woke up in the middle of the night due to the storm and noticed this nonstop noise of thunder. It was so loud at times it felt like it was getting closer to me. So bizarre.

  13. isn't Holland where they just reported the number of dementia patients they "legally" helped to the grave in 2010?

  14. It's just a thunderstorm which is obscured by low hanging clouds. There is nothing special to it.

  21. I heard the sustained rumbling that lasted what seemed like forever back in May of 2010 in Florida. At the time, I wondered what would cause such a strange occurrence as I have never heard this in 30 years of living here. This is what led me to believe it was not a natural event but rather something of a military type energy weapon/device.

  22. Hmm...Cause and effect?...The Dutch parliament voted on Tuesday to ban ritual slaughter of animals, a move strongly opposed by the country's Muslim and Jewish minorities. It stipulates that livestock must be stunned before being slaughtered, contrary to the Muslim halal and Jewish kosher laws that require animals to be fully conscious.

  23. I've been on this earth for more decades than I care to admit. A couple of weeks ago in Florida, I heard the same thing: a constant rumbling; no change in pitch or volume. It didn't sound like the rumbling on the video above. It was deep, constant and as suddenly as it began, it ended.

  29. Same thing happened in southern Ontario, Canada. it was about 4 weeks ago...in my 38 years I have never seen such a light show, it was like someone was turning a big flood light on and off...on and off but really fast, more or less like a strobe effect...and the Thunder rolled on for at least 2 hours...I have never witnesses that either. It sounded like a 2 hour bombing raid all around my little city. Family members about 30 KM away witnessed the same thing...and it was quite the talk at work the next day too.

  31. Just wondered if you ever got any HAIL out of that storm? My Grandma Minnie always said if you hear continuous thunder out of a storm, that Hail was not far off. Over the last 2 months here in Missouri, USA, we have had some rather wild electrical storms. The other evening, the local weather station said that they had recorded over 5k lightning strikes both CC and CG in the last 20 minutes. One radar screen I was looking at was so full of lightening strikes you could not discern the storm tracks on Weather Underground. www.wunderground.com Great site. :-)

  33. Need to get a meteorologist in on the discussion. I live in Colorado and similar thing happened before. The sky just rumbles for 5 or more minutes. It is so strange. When my son was little -- I told him it was God - bowling.

  38. Severe storms blossom up to great heights with terrible lightning/thunder then rain themselves out here in Central Florida during the rainy season. I've heard and seen this a number of times, with the constant rumbling...it's just a particularly bad storm there, maybe more of a rare thing in Holland. No doubt HAARP is doing it's thing somewhere probably right now, but in this case just enjoy the light show of a bad, but luckily in your case, distant thunderstorm.

  40. I live outside of Atlanta, Georgia...and I (someone very sane and old enough to know the difference of what is common and what is uncommon)... have been noticing these sounds, I will call them rumblings... for several months now. It is not coming from planes,(at least not ones I can see, and the ones I do see, do not sound like this...the sound is much louder, deeper and longer...like rolling thunder but yet not) I am very familiar with what planes sound and look like. Plane sounds come and then fade away as they go...This has happened during and even when there is NO STORM...It has caught my attention while inside so that I go out to see what all the noise is. The sound last way longer than any plane or thunder. Just wanted to make a response because I was not aware that anyone else, besides myself and neighbors had noticed this uncommon sound that seems to be coming from something in the sky.

  41. Miami, FL

My friends and neighbors in Miami, FL have been hearing this periodically since March 2011. However, the phenomenon seems to be increasing in frequency. Duration of events can last for several hours without cessation.
